Season both sides of burger patties liberally with garlic powder, salt, and fresh ground pepper. Cook bacon until crispy. Thinly slice bleu cheese. In a cast iron skillet, cook burgers 5-6 minutes per side for medium well doneness. Toast kaiser bun. Add mayonnaise, mustard and ketchup, in that order. Mix thoroughly and spread on both sides of bun. Layer some red onion on top of bun. During last 3-4 minutes of cooking burgers, add cheese and bacon to top of cheese. Cover burger with lid for a couple minutes until beginning stages of melting are evident. Remove from heat and press burger between top and bottom bun.
Use your favorite bleu cheese. Bun can be toasted or not. Burger can also be cooked on a gas or charcoal grill, whatever your preference.
