
Ground raw turkey is combined with basil pesto, chopped almonds, onions & chives, formed into burgers & cooked. Serve on multi-grain bread, if desired.
Mix all ingredients together. Grease a grill or a pan. Make 4 or 5 burgers from the mix in the bowl. They will feel mushy. Heat grill or pan on medium-high heat. Cook on each side for about 5-6 minutes (the oil in the pesto will keep the turkey from getting too dry.) Serve burgers on a slice of multi-grain bread or on the plate. Serve a dollop of additional pesto on the side, if desired.
Notes:
This is so easy, especially if you buy ready-made pesto. I have never made it with store-bought pesto, though, only the homemade--with basil and garlic from the garden. I serve with a side of light pasta salad with a few chives in it to have it compliment the turkey burgers.
